National Running Day

June 6,2012.  Mark it down runners- it’s NATIONAL RUNNING DAY (although, that’s pretty much everyday for me).  And guess what…there’s a website for it!  National Running Day if you must ask.  And how should you be celebrating National Running Day?  Their website gives some good ideas:

  1. Declare your passion: plaster your love for running all over the place. On your car, around the house, around your cubicle at work, facebook/twitter/social media.  Use whatever you can think of!  Besides, runners rock 🙂
  2. Bring a runway to work: wear your running shoes and bring something that resembles a track. Or, wear your running shoes and go for a lunchtime run
  3. Morph your friends into running fiends: it should be our mission today to convert at least one friend into a runner so they can see how addictive it is
  4. Happy Hour –> Running Hour : yes, alcohol is fun, but run and socialize while running before you have some cocktails
  5. Strike new ground and try a different route
  6. Give the gift of running: donate to a cause that supports running (something local or something national). Try Back on my Feet or Achilles International
  7. Make running run in the family: and yes, it’s all my fault my mom got into running
  8. Choose a running resolution and set a new running goal
  9. Take advantage of the outdoors and go running outside (as long as the elements are cooperating)
  10. Treat yourself like a champion (or the bomb, #1, etc). Get some new running shoes or running clothes (I can’t have enough), get a new running book or treat yourself to a snack.

These top 10 ideas are from the National Running Day website…head on over there for some more NRD info!
